    The British Library is not only the national library of the United Kingdom but also one of the world’s greatest academic institutions. Opened in 1998, the library is now hailed as a great triumph of design and technology as well as one of the greatest repositories of library materials which include over 150 million items, with some material dating from 3000 years ago. The British Library’s state of the art Conference Centre has its own private entrance from the Piazza and offers exceptional and flexible facilities for conferences, meetings, product launches, lectures, private screenings and media events. An impressive staircase leads from the manned reception area with dedicated cloakroom to the upper level and a lift for wheelchair access to the upper floor.     The PM Gallery and House comprises Pitzhanger Manor-House, a restored Georgian villa once owned and designed by Sir John Soane, Architect and Surveyor to the Bank of England, and a sympathetically designed extension to the House, built in 1940, which is now the largest art gallery in West London.     The Hampton Hill Playhouse (HHP) is a state-of-the-art purpose-built theatre with a 200 seat auditorium and a 50 seat studio theatre. The theatre also comprises 2 first floor functions rooms with bar and a further function room with bar on the ground floor. The stage is 9m wide x 8m deep with 1.8m forestage in front of the curtains which is ideal for company presentations etc. The auditorium can be used 'end stage' or 'in the round' in which case the stage area is 6m square.     Fitzroy House is an original 1791 building imitating the designs of Robert Adam, the famous Georgian period architect who along with his brother designed Fitzroy Square. The house is one of the last remaining structures on the block that retains its original external architecture and now shows the life and work of L. Ron Hubbard. The house comprises four impressive floors, one of which is dedicated to an exhibition of Ron Hubbard's early life from boy scout to explorer. It also illustrates his career as one of the top fiction writers in the 1930s and 40s and his later achievements in the humanities. As he holds the Guinness Book of World Records title for Most Published Author (1,084 publications) one of the floors is appropriately dedicated to his literary works. We welcome visitors from around the world to step into this 1950s time capsule where they can view original manuscripts, rare edition books and artifacts relating to the life of one of the most prominent authors of the 20th century.
